Katrina’s practice moves through and with material residue. Waste, used and produced by various mediums (sound, sculpture and performance) investigates the functionality of systems (mechanical, social and physiological). Drawing on notions of the fold, processes of re/deconstruction are considered as homeostatic feedback. Collaborations with Luca Dayanc explore the edges of performance making. Peripheries are not only the spaces of what is pushed aside, but are the sites of possibility. Together, they investigate tension and movement between central and deterioralized ideas of documentation, rehearsal and performance. Taking from their interests in wastage, refuge and what is propelled away/toward centres, the artists performances question communication mechanisms, using spillages of costume and excess sound/voice.
